Deletha Bullard, affectionately known to many as "Grandma," was a beacon of warmth and joy, illuminating the lives of those around her with her infectious laughter, radiant smile, and boundless love. Born on October 25, 1958, in Camden, NJ, Deletha graced the world with her vibrant spirit for 67 fulfilling years.
Deletha's life was marked by her passion for the simple pleasures in life. She found solace in the crisp shuffle of cards, the thrill of a winning bingo call, the tantalizing aromas of her favorite dishes coming to life in her kitchen, and most importantly, the sound of her beloved family's laughter filling the room. As George Bernard Shaw once said, "There is no love sincerer than the love of food," and Deletha's kitchen was the heart of her home, where she created culinary wonders that delighted her family and friends.
Deletha was a steadfast pillar of the Camden community, having spent most of her life in New Jersey. Her home was a haven, a place where you would always be welcomed with open arms, a hot meal, and a listening ear. Her vivacious spirit and zest for life were infectious, and her unwavering love for her family was palpable to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Deletha is survived by her loving sisters, Alice Bullard, Ethel Jones (Larry), Dorothy Bullard-Dewitt (Raymond), her brothers Timothy Bullard, Bruce Bullard, Joseph Bullard (Robin), her cherished grandchildren, Javierre, Jaheem, Jahyde, JaMaad, Jezsiree, Jaaliyah, Destiny, Naequan, great-grandchildren; and her devoted daughters, Katrina Bullard-Kato (Jesse), Lakesha Bullard her son Lonnette Bullard. A host of family members and many of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex Bullard and Bernice Bullock, sisters Luester Bullard, Jane Biles, brother Alex Bullard, Jr., her daughter, Lynette Bullard, and her grandsons, Ja’Meer Bullard, Jahmil Bullard.
As Leo Tolstoy stated, "Only people who are capable of loving strongly can also suffer great sorrow, but this same necessity of loving serves to counteract their grief and heals them." As we gather to remember Deletha, we remember the strength of her love and how it continues to heal us in her absence.
In memory of Deletha, we encourage you to share your photos, stories, and memories of her on the memorial page. As we each hold a piece of her story, let us come together to create a tapestry of her life that reflects the love, warmth, and joy she brought into our lives.
