It is with profound sadness and a sense of gratitude for a life well-lived that I, Danielle, announce the passing of my beloved mother, Dorothy LaSure, affectionately known as "Dottie" or "MumMum". A compassionate, generous, resilient, and spirited soul, Dorothy was born on April 15, 1946, in Egg Harbor City, NJ, and spent her final years in Gloucester City, New Jersey. She departed this earthly realm on February 24, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and service to others that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Dorothy's life was a tapestry of admirable achievements and simple, heartfelt joys. From her days working as an Equal Opportunity Officer at the Federal Aviation Administration, to her esteemed role as a Church Mother at New Harvest Christian Fellowship, she served others with great dedication and grace. She was a beacon of wisdom and nurturing leadership, always ready to offer guidance, support, and a listening ear. Her hobbies, which ranged from cooking and baking to thrifting and attending concerts, were a testament to her vibrant spirit and her zest for life. Above all, she was a woman of deep, unwavering faith that shone through in every aspect of her life, from her active involvement in church activities to her mentorship of others in their spiritual journeys.
Dorothy's love for her family was the cornerstone of her life. She reveled in her roles as a mother and grandmother, cherishing the precious moments spent with her loved ones. She is survived by her children, Danielle (George) LaSure-Bryant, Tamar (Ed) LaSure-Owens, Daniel "Skeeter" LaSure Jr. (Joy) and Stephan LaSure her siblings, Linda Rassmann and Charles Addams; her grandchildren Jessyca, Ajani, Brittany, and Shoshannah and her Godchildren, Gary Melton and Catrina King and her great grandchildren Salana-Sada and Selene- Renee. She also leaves behind her husband, Daniel LaSure, Sr. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Philip and Myrtle Adams, and her siblings, Donald, Eleanor, Barbara, Phyllis, Shirley, Philip and Murise.
In the words of the scripture that Dorothy cherished, "For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted" (Ecclesiastes 3:1-2). Dorothy's season on earth may have ended, but her spirit will forever bloom in our hearts. As we honor her life, we invite you to join us for a viewing on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 2:00pmEST, followed by a celebration of her life at 3:00pmEST at the Macedonia Baptist Church, 351 High Street, Westville, New Jersey, 08093.
To keep her memory alive, we encourage you to share your cherished memories of Dorothy and upload any photographs you may have to the memorial page. Your stories and pictures will serve as a comforting testament to a life that touched so many.
