Well folks, it's James W. Giebel, Jr. here, but you probably knew me as Jimmy if you knew me at all. Now, I've always been a fan of a good story, and I suppose this is the last one I'll get to tell, so I'll make it a good one. Born in the bustling metropolis of Woodbury, NJ (population: not many lol), I graced the world with my presence on January 31, 1975. After a life filled with laughter, compassion, and more than a few fishing trips, I've checked out a little early on December 11, 2024. Now, don't you go getting all weepy on me - I lived a good life and I lived it my way.
Talking about myself has never been my strongest suit, but I've been told I was funny, loyal, and generous. I've always been a fan of the underdog - perhaps that's why I was so attached to my dog, Buddy. And my family, well, they were my world. A shout-out to my wonderful mother, Carol Giebel, and my siblings Carol Muckley (Warren), Christopher Giebel (Christina), Cody Higgins (Kristina), Brenda Shanley (Kevin), and Lorri Fioravanti (Vincent). And I've got a whole bunch of nieces Amanda, Sabrina, Brooke, Isabella, Kaydence, Marilyn and nephews Dominic, Xavier, and even great-nieces Madison, Rylie and great-nephews Noah, Theodore who I hope will keep my wild stories alive. Lastly, there are some folks who might not be blood, but they're family all the same - Honorary grandmother Sandy, Honorary daughter April, Honorary grandchildren Evelyn, Violet, and of course, my dog Buddy. A host of family, friends.
As Mark Twain once quipped, "The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time." I lived fully, folks. From my job at BJ’s wholesale club to my passion for gun and knife collecting, fishing, and story-telling. Not to forget my membership at the esteemed gun club. I put my all into everything I did and loved every minute of it.
So, this is where I leave you. My stories will be remembered, my jokes retold (probably incorrectly), and my memory cherished. Remember this is not a mournful goodbye, but a celebration of a life well-lived. And please, share your memories and photos on my memorial page, so we can all remember the good times. After all, as I always said: "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened."
