Laura Leigh Hughes

–

Gloucester City, New Jersey

Laura Leigh Hughes, born in the picturesque city of Danville, VA, on September 6, 1974, was a truly charismatic soul who left an indelible imprint on the lives of those fortunate enough to know her. Laura, a compassionate and resilient woman, was fondly known for her vibrant personality, her captivating charm, and her radiant spirit that could light up any room. Laura was a nurturer at heart, often going above and beyond to lend a comforting ear or a shoulder to lean on to those in need. Her innate ability to resonate with people, coupled with her loving nature, made her everyone's favorite confidante.

Laura made her home in the cozy town of Gloucester City, New Jersey. Professionally, she was a hairstylist in the field of cosmetology. Laura's hands were not just skilled, they were magic wands, transforming ordinary into extraordinary with every snip and stroke. Her passion for her work was evident in the countless hairstyles she breathed life into. Laura's resilience shone through in her ability to balance her career and personal life seamlessly. As George Bernard Shaw once said, "Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself." Laura embodied this quote to its very essence.

But above all, what mattered most to Laura were her precious daughters, Jasè and Iridessa Alston. Laura's world revolved around her girls. She was their guiding star, their confidante, and their biggest cheerleader. Laura’s love for the moon, stars, and animals was mirrored in her daughters, and she passed on her fascination with astrology and horoscopes to them. Laura, never married, shared an unbreakable bond with her domestic partner, Cornel Alston, and her father, Danny Hughes, both of whom survive her. She was preceded in death by her loving mother, Phyllis Hughes.

Laura’s life was a testament to her charismatic spirit, compassion, resilience, and deep love for her family. Her spirit continues to live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
