Her Story

Born under the autumn sky in the City of Camden, New Jersey, on October 16, 1961, Sabrina Bonita Wright entered this world as the daughter of Walter Lee Rose and the late Carrie Elizabeth Chandler. The streets of Camden shaped her early years, where she walked the halls of Camden City Public Schools and proudly crossed the stage at Camden High School in 1980, diploma in hand and dreams in her heart.

April 1981 brought a transformation that would define the very essence of who Sabrina would become—the arrival of her daughter, Zaire. In that moment, she discovered a love so profound it would fuel every decision, every sacrifice, and every triumph that followed. Motherhood awakened in her a fierce determination and an endless well of resilience that would carry her through life's greatest adventures and challenges.

Seeking horizons beyond what she had known, Sabrina gathered her courage and her young daughter, setting their sights on Denver, Colorado. There she found her calling with United Airlines. For decades, she soared through a career that was more than just work—it was a passport to connection. Every flight, every destination, every conversation with a stranger-turned-friend added another thread to the rich tapestry of her life. The airline industry didn't just employ Sabrina; it embraced her spirit of adventure and her gift for making everyone feel like family.

Colorado blessed her with another precious gift—her son, Omar Menson, Jr. With two children to love and guide, Sabrina's world was complete, her purpose crystal clear. After nearly two decades in the midwest, the call of home grew strong, and she returned to New Jersey's familiar embrace.

Sabrina possessed a rare and beautiful authenticity—she spoke truth without cruelty, delivered honesty wrapped in love. Her words could make you think, her laughter could heal your heart, and her style could stop traffic. She was a walking celebration of life, a fashionista who understood that looking good was really about feeling good, and that both were gifts meant to be shared.

Her hands created magic in the kitchen, turning simple ingredients into feasts that nourished both body and soul. Her eye for design transformed any space into a sanctuary, where every corner told a story and every visitor felt the warmth of genuine hospitality. Sabrina didn't just live in her spaces—she painted them with her personality until they pulsed with life and love.

In the winter of 2022, Sabrina retired from American Airlines as a ramp agent. This marked not an ending, but a beautiful new beginning. She discovered a different kind of fulfillment in the maintenance departments of Gloucester Township Public Schools and the Deptford School District. Here, surrounded by the energy of young minds and dedicated educators, Sabrina found her second act. Her warmth radiated through school hallways, her work ethic inspired colleagues, and her presence became a source of comfort for students who needed it most.

When cancer entered her story, it met its match in Sabrina's indomitable spirit. For three years, she faced each day with courage that inspired everyone who witnessed her journey. She taught us all how to fight with grace, how to hope with wisdom, and how to find light even in the darkest moments. On Thursday, May 29, 2025, she completed her earthly journey, stepping peacefully into eternal rest where pain cannot follow and love never ends.

The legacy she leaves behind lives on in the hearts of those who called her family: her father, Walter Rose, and his wife Kathleen; her daughter Zaire Ellis and her husband Kareem; her son Omar Menson, Jr.; her cherished grandmother Mildred Rose; and her grandchildren—Zarrea, Zakari, and Paris—who carry forward her spark of joy and zest for life.

Her love extends through her brother Donald Wright; her sisters Wanda Rose and Angela Rose-Bounds and her husband David; step-brother Dwayne Corey Mosley and his wife Nicole, her devoted godson Jamle Warren, who held a special place in her heart; and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends whose lives were forever brightened by knowing her.

Sabrina Bonita Wright lived as she loved—fully, fearlessly, and with an open heart. She showed us that strength comes in many forms, that style is about authenticity, that home is wherever love resides, and that even in our final chapter, we can write something beautiful. Her laughter echoes still, her wisdom guides us forward, and her love—that magnificent, transformative love—remains with us always.

She will be profoundly missed, eternally remembered, and forever celebrated.
