Santa Mendez

–

Camden, New Jersey

Santa Mendez was a ray of sunshine who brought warmth and happiness to all who knew her. Born on January 2, 1997, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, her thoughtful and compassionate spirit illuminated the world around her. Santa was a charismatic soul, full of life, and her energy was infectious. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life—singing, dancing, and making every moment count. She was a loving daughter, sister, and mother whose family meant everything to her. Her caring and vibrant nature drew people close, and the memories of her beautiful spirit will forever echo in the hearts of those she touched.

Santa was a proud graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, Class of 2016. Despite the challenges life placed before her, she always held her head high and faced each day with resilience and determination. Her proudest accomplishment was her son, Josiah, who was truly the apple of her eye. Santa’s love for her family was immeasurable, and she worked tirelessly to provide the best life possible for her child.

Her legacy lives on through her parents, Jose Rentas and Milagros Mendez; her stepmother, Maria “Lisa” Velazquez; her brothers, Coron Rush, Jalil Rentas, and Jose Rentas Jr.; her stepbrother, Eliseo Barreto Jr.; her sisters, Marialisa Rentas and Joselyn Rentas; her beloved son, Josiah “Jojo” Rivera; her nieces and nephews; and her significant other, Troy Wilson.

Santa was welcomed into Heaven by her beloved grandmother Luz Padilla, uncle Eugene Padilla, brother Ramon Rentas, and dear friend Anna Rodriguez. While we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the love she shared so freely. In accordance with her Catholic faith, we find comfort in the words of Scripture: “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted” (Matthew 5:4).

A Celebration of Life honoring Santa will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 2:00 PM EDT at Macedonia Baptist Church. Family and friends are invited to join together to honor and remember our beloved Santa by sharing stories, memories, and the love she so generously gave to everyone around her.

We encourage all who knew and loved Santa to share memories and upload photos to her memorial page as we celebrate the joy and light she brought into our lives. Let us remember not only that Santa has passed, but that she lived—and that her life gave us memories too beautiful to ever forget.
